Traumatic brain injuries (TBIs) can happen after you’ve been in a bike crash with a car. People who suffer from TBI may experience long-term effects that affect their ability to live independently and perform daily tasks. When a bicyclist suffers from a TBI as a result of a motorist’s wrongful action or negligence, the bicyclist may be entitled to pain and suffering compensation and economic damages under personal injury law.

What is a TBI after a bike crash?

A bike accident brain injury is caused by a blow to the head or a violent shaking of the brain. A TBI can occur in many ways, including from bike crashes involving motor vehicles. The damage can range from headaches and dizziness to long-term disability or death.

What are the symptoms of a TBI?

  • Loss of consciousness
  • Confusion
  • Memory loss
  • Headaches
  • Dizziness
  • Drowsiness
  • Difficulty finding words
  • Balance problems, including vertigo and dizziness

How can a bike crash lead to TBI?

Bike accidents can cause TBI. Bicycles are smaller than cars and riders do not have the protection that motor vehicle occupants do. This makes bicyclists more vulnerable to TBI– and other injuries – in the event they are involved in a crash with a car or truck.

What treatments are available for people with TBI?

TBI can be treated through a variety of methods, such as physical therapy, occupational therapy, cognitive therapy, neuropsychology, surgery and/or medication.

A TBI can happen after you’ve been in a car accident, hit your head, or from a violent blow or jolt to the head

A TBI is a serious medical condition that a bicyclist can suffer after being involved in a car accident. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) estimates that 1.7 million people sustain TBIs each year in the U.S.

TBIs result in permanent brain damage for about 30% of people who experience them; these individuals may have long-term health problems such as memory loss, cognitive difficulties and depression. In addition to these effects on cognition and behavior, TBIs can also affect how people feel emotionally.

Traumatic brain injuries can be difficult to diagnose, but they are treatable. If you have been in a bike accident and are experiencing symptoms of TBI, it’s important that you seek medical attention right away so that the proper treatment can begin as soon as possible. You should also consult with an experienced brain injury lawyer who can help you recover the compensation and money damages you are legally entitled to.
